Personal information
Giuseppe Failla (Male) is Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Energy, Environmental and Materials Engineering, at the University of Reggio Calabria (Italy). He earned a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering at the University of Palermo in 2001. He has a 16-year experience in teaching Mechanics of Structures, Theory of Structures and Structural Dynamics at the University of Reggio Calabria. In 2002 he was visiting lecturer at Rice University, Houston (USA), where he was in charge of the Mechanics of Structures course for undergraduate students. His research interests are stochastic dynamics of nonlinear systems, dynamics of offshore wind turbines, vibration mitigation, nonlocal elasticity, complex modal analysis, fractional viscoelasticity, wavelets analysis. He has published several papers on offshore wind turbines, either fixed or floating, focusing on seismic analysis and structural identification. In 2015 he has been Guest Editor with prof. Arena of a special issue of Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A, entitled “New Perspectives in Offshore Wind Energy”. He has authored 65 publications in international scientific journals.
