The risk of coastal erosion increases considerably during extreme wave events. To support the decision-making process, increasing attention is being paid to this topic by the scientific community, also associated to climate changes. This project proposes a “smart” data monitoring platform, with the implementation of an associated Early Warning system. The platform will be installed on a test site area, made up of a physiographic coastal unit and its relative hydrographic basin. The effects on short/long-term will be identified by the application of proper methodologies, aimed at predicting coastal erosion and evolution, and identifying the supply of river sediment transport. The overall goal is to develop a coastal erosion early warning system, which is scalable and applicable in other locations.
